uHIT Certification

What Is It. Why It’s Important.

A Program To Learn uHIT Science. Without The Jargon.

The uHIT Certification is a simple course aimed at giving you the credentials you need as a coach (or parent-coach) to be make better hitters.

One of the biggest problems hitting coaches face is this: How do I get my hitters to see the ball better? How do I get them to select better pitches? How do I get them to let bad pitches for them go by?

The answers to those questions are the basis of the uHIT app for better zone and pitch recognition skills. And the uHIT Certification is a guide for coaches to learn the science behind uHIT in simple, easy terms — in baseball terms.

Below, we look at just a few coaches who got their uHIT Certification and how it helped their hitters.

Hitting Coach from Elon University (D1), Vin Redmond

Coach Redmond got his uHIT Certification in Winter 2021. Just after that, his Elon Baseball hitters started uHIT Custom Training to improve their pitch selection. They raised their team OPS by +18 points using uHIT. You can learn more about those improvements from reading our detailed post on uHIT Academy (>> click here to learn more).

Redmond learned from the uHIT Certification about how uHIT is a decision-making tool based on the brain science of how people make quick decisions. He learned this from the uHIT Certification curriculum of articles (e.g., from the Washington Post and New York Times), as well as interviews on ESPN (e.g., with Brian Kenny). He was able to apply this knowledge to Elon Baseball’s own system of tracking decisions at the plate. And with uHIT Analysis Services he was able to better connect decisions in-game to decisions made in uHIT – and most importantly, how to coach a fix for them when they went into a slump. You can learn more about how uHIT Assessments tracked in-game decisions at the plate from a uHIT Academy interview with Coach Redmond (>> click here to learn more).

Hitting Coach from Hartford University (D1), Steve Malinowski

Coach Malinowski got his uHIT Certification in Fall 2020. Just afterwards, his Hartford Baseball hitters started uHIT Custom Training to improve their pitch selection. They raised their team OPS by +48 points using uHIT. You can learn more about those improvements from reading our detailed post on uHIT Academy (>> click here to learn more).

Malinowski learned from the uHIT Certification about how uHIT differs from all other hitting tools. He learned that uHIT differs from everything else because it grew out of the brain science on how people make quick decisions. It is not based on what one guru says, or on uHIT being made by a company that only does baseball apps. Instead, he learned from the uHIT Certification curriculum of articles (e.g., from the Boston Globe and Sports Illustrated), as well as interviews on MLB Network (e.g., with Brian Kenny), that the science behind uHIT is based on work that other scientists and engineers approved as valid and new contributions about how people make fast decisions. He also learned that uHIT is made by deCervo, a company that specializes in applying these results to many sports and professions beyond baseball (such as training hockey officials for the NHL or police officers around the United States).

Malinowski was able to apply this knowledge to Hartford Baseball’s fall training and with uHIT Analysis Services he was able to better connect Rapsodo Hitting data to decisions made in uHIT – and most importantly, how to coach a fix for his hitters when they went into a slump.
