deCervo is developing a mobile app designed to measure how people respond to short, game-like cognitive tasks involving attention, reaction time, memory, spatial awareness, and decision-making.

We are currently recruiting veterans, service members, family members, caregivers, and supporters of the military community to participate in live app testing sessions over Zoom.

Your participation — whether from personal experience with TBI, military service, caregiving, or a desire to give back — will help shape a tool being developed to support safer, more objective return-to-duty decision-making for service members.

Help Shape a New Mobile Tool for Service Member Readiness

Why This Matters

Traumatic brain injury and cognitive fatigue can affect how people think, react, remember, focus, and make decisions. For service members, these abilities are directly tied to readiness, safety, and return-to-duty decisions.

This project is focused on building a practical mobile tool that can be tested, refined, and improved with input from people who understand the military and veteran community.

By joining a short testing session, you can help us make the app clearer, more usable, and more reliable before broader testing.

Who We’re Looking For

You do not need a history of TBI to participate.

We are looking for:

  • Veterans
  • Active-duty service members
  • Reservists and National Guard members
  • Military family members
  • Caregivers and veteran-support professionals
  • People who want to support the service member and veteran community

Your lived experience, perspective, and feedback are valuable even if you are helping us test whether the app is easy to use.

What You’ll Do

During a live Zoom session, a deCervo team member will guide you through the process. You will use your phone or tablet to try the app and complete several short tasks.

We will ask for feedback on:

  • Whether the instructions are clear
  • Whether the app is easy to use
  • Whether the tasks feel smooth and responsive
  • Any issues with touch, timing, display, loading, or sound
  • Anything confusing, frustrating, or unclear
  • Suggestions that would improve the experience for future users

This is not a test of you. It is a test of the app.

What You’ll Need

Please have the following ready:

  • An iPhone or iPad
  • Access to Zoom
  • A stable internet connection
  • Approximately 45 minutes

A quiet place where you can focus

For the best setup, we recommend joining Zoom on a computer while using the app on your phone or tablet.

Important Note

This is a prototype usability and app performance testing session. It is not a medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or formal cognitive assessment.

The purpose of this session is to improve the app’s design, instructions, technical performance, and user experience.
